Welcome to Karate-dō Tsunami online
This aspect of Karate-dō Tsunami system is based on ideas of four great religious and philosophical systems of the East: yoga, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, supplemented with the assumptions of some contemporary Western systems and supported with the achievements of modern science.
In Karate-dō Tsunami system, Karate-dō ("the way of empty hands" in Japanese) is the physical aspect of self-improvement, so it refers to one's body. It is based on comprehensive use of Far East art of unarmed combat - Karate. It facilitates a complete physical self-improvement, the development of self-discipline and the intensification of understanding the value of human life and health. As a result, Karate-dō Tsunami training consists of both physical training (Karate-dō), as well as mental training (Zen) - practiced alike. Such a unique form of classes is the characteristic feature of this system only. Karate-dō Tsunami should be approached as the way of systematic self-improvement in mental (Zen) and physical aspect (Karate-dō).
It consists in constant attempts to apply in one's everyday life these valuable principles, which govern our nature, as well as the art of Karate combat, i.a. purposefulness, reason, correctness, concentration, dedication, saving (e.g. of energy, time) or maximum simplicity. Thus, Karate-dō Tsunami can be called the art of everyday life, based on gradual mental and physical self-improvement. The essence of Karate-dō Tsunami system is the skill to notice and appreciate the common principle of dualism, that is the occurrence of oppositions and their mutual complementing (Japanese omyo - do = the way of yin and yang). The principle is also the foundation of the existence of the entire universe, as well as of a human being.
In accordance with this philosophy, a human being is composed of two elements: psyche and body.
The psyche - that is spirit or mind - is the total of innate and acquired spiritual, intellectual, emotional processes and features, as well as will. They all make up the functions of one's brain.
The body, on the other hand, is a human organism as a whole, so - in contrast to the psyche - it is the physical, material, tangible part of life. Both these goals are organically inseparable and essential for living.
Their existence is based on mutual, concordant complementing one another - so they are equally important.
In the light of this assumption, Karate-dō Tsunami system recommends not only the improvement of both these elements at the same time and in equal proportions, but also undertaking activities that will intensify the process of their supplementation - and achievement of harmony.
Practices that are most useful for this purpose are - mutually complementary - mental (Zen) practices and physical (Karate-dō) practices. In accordance with Karate-dō Tsunami system, it is possible to achieve happiness, which is the state of complete satisfaction, yet in this earthly life - but in order to succeed in that, one needs to understand its essence and appreciate its value. The conditions necessary to achieve such state are people's own attempts, based on simultaneous and regular self-improvement in two aspects: mental and physical.
However, in order for these attempts to be effective, they have to be supported with appropriately developed self-discipline. Karate is the means that can help develop it most comprehensively. Exercises proposed by this art of combat require appropriate effort and related will power and, therefore, they are an effective means of intensifying self-discipline, which is absolutely necessary to follow the path of self-improvement.
Moreover, in Karate-dō Tsunami system is used not only to improve one's skills and life and maintain good health condition, but also to prevent their loss.
The skill of efficient self-defence, ensured by Karate-dō Tsunami, is one of the most important motives of people who decide for self-improvement. Our life and health are the greatest values that we can preserve or lose as a result of a brutal assault. When we have the right approach, Karate is also a valuable means to learn the sense of human existence and the value of life and health, which is one of the conditions to achieve happiness.
